Birmingham City defender Timms joins West Brom on dual-registration basis

Birmingham City defender Maria Timms has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club West Bromwich Albion on a dual-registration basis.

The Baggies announced the news via an update on their official club website just a short time ago.

West Bromwich Albion boss Jenny Sugarman has been putting Timms through her paces in recent weeks and the player has now secured a move to the third tier club after making a positive impression.

Timms is yet to make her senior debut for parent club Birmingham City. The youngster was named amongst the substitutes on a couple of occasions last season but has been out of the picture this term. With the Blues battling to get their promotion bid on track, Timms’ opportunities in the first team this season seemed limited at best.

After joining West Bromwich Albion, Timms will now be hoping for some regular first team football. Her first task will be to help The Baggies to end a winless run which has rumbled on for two months. It is not known whether Timms is eligible to play in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup for West Bromwich Albion this weekend with the club set to take on Crewe Alexandra in the first round.

It has been reported that Timms will spend the remainder of the season at West Bromwich Albion, although she could represent parent club Birmingham City at academy level.
