Time for Liverpool to turn performances into points says assistant boss Whiteley

Liverpool’s assistant manager Amber Whiteley says that it is time for the club to turn good performances into points.

The Reds have taken just three points from an available 18 so far this season but they have generally performed well and some of their defeats have been by very fine margins.

This weekend sees Liverpool travel to Crawley to face a Brighton & Hove Albion side who have had a difficult start themselves and assistant boss Whiteley says that it is time for The Reds to convert performances into points.

“I think there is so much that you can take from the recent performances, you’ve got to take the positives from every game and use that as fuel and motivation for the coming weeks,” Whiteley said when speaking in the pre-match press conference.

“We’ve had a lot of positives in recent games and now it is about turning those performances into points.”

Brighton & Hove Albion are currently under the interim management of Amy Merricks after the club recently parted company with former boss Hope Powell by mutual consent. Despite The Seagulls’ lack of a permanent manager, Whiteley still expects the Sussex club to be tough opponents.

She said “There’s an element of the unknown this weekend but Amy has worked with Hope for quite a long time and we expect them to go back to basics.

“Amy is an experienced coach so we expect them to be well-organised and well-prepared for the game. It’ll be a difficult task for us.”

Liverpool’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
