Arsenal captain Kim Little has returned to training after overcoming a knee injury.
The Gunners revealed the news via a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today.
The 32-year-old midfielder has been out of action since Arsenal defeated London rivals West Ham United 3-1 at the LV Bet Stadium at the end of October. The Gunners head coach Jonas Eidevall initially thought that Little would be out of action until after the New Year but the player has made excellent progress with her recovery and she could be fit to feature for Arsenal before the Christmas break.
At this stage, it is unknown whether Little will be available for selection when Arsenal take on European champions Lyon in the group stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening. Should the Scot not be fit for that match, her next target would be the away fixture against FC Zürich on Wednesday 21 December.
Arsenal can secure qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals with a favourable result against Lyon on Thursday evening. The North Londoners are three points ahead of the French club with two matches remaining while they have a five-point advantage on Italian club Juventus, a side which they defeated 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium last week.
