Brighton & Hove Albion have appointed Jens Scheuer as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The Seagulls announced the news just a short time ago via an update on their official club website.
The 44-year-old German coach replaces former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Hope Powell who left her role at the end of October following the club’s heavy 8-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
Scheuer joins Brighton & Hove Albion on the back of a three-year spell in charge of German giants Bayern Munich. He guided the club to the 2020/2021 FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga title while Bayern Munich also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League during his tenure.
After being appointed as Brighton & Hove Albion’s new head coach, Scheuer said “It’s a great feeling, I’m very excited to work for the team and the club. The facilities are the best I have ever seen.
“I had good talks with (technical director) David Weir. The first time we spoke, it was clear for me that I wanted to come here and build a team which can grow and move up the table. I’m very excited for the future and can’t wait to get started.”
Brighton & Hove Albion return to Barclays Women’s Super League action after the Christmas break with a fixture against Leicester City at The King Power Stadium on Sunday 15 January.
