Ambitious Tier 5 club Ebbsfleet United have completed the impressive signing of experienced midfielder Charley Clifford from Crystal Palace.
The Fleet announced the deal earlier today via a post on their official club Twitter account.
Clifford joined Crystal Palace ahead of the 2021/2022 season after leaving former club Charlton Athletic. The midfielder became The Addicks’ all-time record appearance holder during her time in South East London, beating the previous record of 272 appearances. Clifford is very much viewed as a Charlton Athletic legend given what she achieved with the club.
In her first year with Crystal Palace, Clifford made 15 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship while she scored two goals. The player has made just the solitary appearance for The Eagles this season, that outing coming in a 4-0 defeat at Bristol City in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.
Clifford’s new club Ebbsfleet United launched their women’s and girls section last summer. The senior women’s team currently play their football in the London South East Regional League but have big ambitions for the future and the club are targeting a rise through the FA Women’s National League system.
Ebbsfleet United return to action after the Christmas break with a trip to Enfield on 8 January 2023. Clifford could make her debut in that match.
