With Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall having confirmed that he will be very active in this month’s transfer window, The Gunners have been linked with a handful of players in recent days.
One of those players linked with a move to North London is Canadian international forward Cloé Lacasse who currently plays her football with Portuguese side S.L Benfica. Well-respected journalist Amanda Zaza broke the news of Arsenal’s potential interest in the player via her personal Twitter account last week.

Who is Lacasse and why has she potentially attracted the interest of Arsenal? Here are three facts about the Canadian forward that you may not know.
Lacasse has taken the UWCL by storm
In three seasons, Lacasse has netted 12 goals in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with seven of those strikes coming this term. Despite Benfica finishing behind FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the group stage, Lacasse still helped herself to five goals in six group matches. She scored against both of the European heavyweights.
The forward has proved that she can do it at the highest level and she deserves a big move to England.
Lacasse is a regular winner of silverware
Lacasse has already achieved a whole host of honours in the European club game. During her time with Icelandic club ÍBV, the forward won both the Icelandic Women’s Football Cup and the Icelandic League Cup while she has won two Liga BPI titles, two Portuguese League Cups and two Portuguese Super Cups in the red and green of Benfica. It is fair to say that Lacasse and silverware go very well together. That fact would certainly appeal to Arsenal given the need to end their trophy drought.
A late addition to the Canadian national team
After training with Canada at Under-20 level, Lacasse made an attempt to switch her allegiances to Iceland. Her application was rejected and she broke into the Canadian national team at senior level in 2021. Since making her debut against Mexico a little over 13 months ago, Lacasse has been a regular for Bev Priestman’s side. She has now been capped on 15 occasions, scoring one goal.
A move to Arsenal for Lacasse is not yet thought to be close, however, if a deal is concluded in the coming weeks, it will be fascinating to see how the player could step up to a new challenge in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
