Former Arsenal defender Anouk Denton has joined West Ham United on a permanent deal.
The Hammers announced news of the transfer via an update on their official club website this evening.
Denton returns to West Ham United for a second spell after previously representing the club on loan during the 2020/2021 season. The 19-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the East Londoners.
The defender joined the Arsenal academy in 2016. Denton successfully negotiated her way through the various youth teams before going on to make her senior debut for The Gunners in 2020. Denton joined West Ham United on loan for the second half of the 2020/2021 campaign and she made three appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The youngster left parent club Arsenal at the end of that season and has spent a year-and-a-half playing for American college side the Louisville Cardinals. Denton will now be looking to push on after returning to the English game with West Ham United.
After securing her West Ham United return, Denton said “It’s really nice to be back at West Ham United. Everything is very similar to when I was here before, but you can tell that things have developed and that the Club is making progress.
“I loved my experience out in United States and I’m so glad I did it, but my dream has always been to come back and play in the WSL, and I’m delighted to be able to do that and sign professionally here with West Ham.
“The Club has some really high aspirations and I’m looking forward to contributing as much as I can to help the team finish as high up the table as possible.”
Denton will be available for selection for West Ham United once the Club receive her international clearance.
