Manchester United have completed the signing of Canadian international defender Jayde Riviere on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Manchester United this morning.
Riviere joins The Red Devils after most recently playing her football with American club AFC Ann Arbor. Prior to her short spell with the USL W League outfit, the defender was playing in the American college system with Michigan Wolverines, a team that she represented over three years.
On the international stage, Riviere made her senior debut for the Canadian national team in 2017. The player has gone on to make 36 appearances for her country in which she has scored one goal. Riviere was a member of the Canadian team which won the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 18 months ago.
After completing her move to Manchester United, Riviere said “I am a huge Manchester United fan, so this is a dream come true for me to sign here. I’m really looking forward to developing and learning at this huge football club, and I can’t wait to use all my playing attributes to help us achieve our joint goals on the pitch.”
Riviere becomes Manchester United boss Marc Skinner’s first signing of the January transfer window.
