Manchester United’s latest signing Jayde Riviere says that joining the club is her destiny and that there is no better place for her to be.
The signing of the 21-year-old Canadian international was announced by The Red Devils this morning. Riviere has penned an initial two-and-a-half-year deal with Manchester United.
The defender is a life-long Manchester United fan and when speaking in her first official club interview, Riviere said that there is no better place for her to be.
“I’m a huge Manchester United fan so I feel like it was kind of destiny for me to be here,” Riviere said.
“It’s a huge club and coming out of college, I really wanted a place where I could develop my skills. Being here at a big club with some big names as part of the women’s side, I thought that there was no better place to be.”
Riviere arrives in the North West with very high ambitions. She wants to become the world’s best full-back, something that she hopes to achieve with Manchester United.
She said “I’m looking forward to developing and learning, I am a player who likes to ask a lot of questions. My goal is to be one of the best full-backs in Canada, England and the world.
“To be at a big club where I’m going to be pushed by the players and by the coaching staff to get the best out of my ability, I’m really looking forward to that.”
Riviere’s first message to the fans reveals one dream that she wants to make a reality during her time with the club.
The defender said “It is my dream to play at Old Trafford so I can’t wait to see you there!”
Riviere is Manchester United’s first signing of the January transfer window.
