Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor says that he wants his side to enjoy the pressure of being the favourites when they travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday evening.
Taylor’s in-form Manchester City side take on second tier opposition as they bid to reach the semi-finals of this season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.
The threat of Bristol City should not be written off but Manchester City boss Taylor wants his side to enjoy being the favourites in their latest domestic cup tie.
“You have to enjoy the pressure that comes with it (being the favourites) and the expectation levels of playing for Manchester City,” Taylor said when speaking ahead of the match. “We are not daft, we know that on any given day, there can be upsets.
“We don’t want that to be us, we want to make sure that we get everything right in our approach and our performance. That gives us better chances of being successful.”
Ticket demand for the tie has been high with Bristol City opting to move the game to the men’s stadium, Ashton Gate. Taylor went on to say that Manchester City enjoy playing their football on the big stage.
He said “The bigger the stadium for us and the bigger the support is great. We are expecting it to be a good occasion and one that we are looking forward to.
“We want to progress in the competition that we won last season.”
Manchester City’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final tie at Bristol City kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening.
