The Football Association have this morning announced the news that more than 30,000 tickets have already been sold for this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup final.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the current sales figure via an official press release from The Football Association.
The competition takes another step forward this weekend with the fourth round ties taking place. The ‘Tie of the Round’ will see current trophy holders Chelsea take on fellow top flight side Liverpool at Kingsmeadow. Second tier Sunderland are expected to face Manchester United in front of a sell-out crowd in the North East while two famous names will meet at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood as Arsenal play host to fourth tier side Leeds United.
In terms of potential upsets, Barclays Women’s Championship leaders London City Lionesses will travel across the capital to take on a Tottenham Hotspur side in poor form while Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping to impress against West Ham United. Birmingham City, Sheffield United and AFC Fylde will also face top tier opposition.
Last season’s final saw Chelsea overcome Manchester City 3-2 after extra-time at Wembley. That tie was watched by a competition record crowd of 49,094. Given the lasting legacy of England’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 success and the rapid growth of the women’s club game, it is hoped that another attendance record will be set for this year’s showpiece.
The 2023 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final takes place on Sunday 14 May. Tickets for this year’s final can be purchased by clicking here.
