PREVIEW: Sunderland v Manchester United

Sunderland will be hoping to cause a Vitality Women’s FA Cup upset when they host Manchester United in a fourth round tie at The Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground on Sunday.

The Lady Black Cats are in good form in the Barclays Women’s Championship and they will believe that they can put on a good performance against a star-studded Manchester United side who are currently the highest-ranked team in the country.

Sunderland manager Melanie Reay will be without the services of defender Louise Griffiths while Keira Ramshaw, Abby Towers, Emily Hutchinson and Faye Mullen are all still out for the long term. On loan Tottenham Hotspur defender Esther Morgan is available to make her debut.

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner continues to be without full-back Jayde Riviere while latest signing Lisa Naalsund is not yet fit. Estelle Cascarino is eligible to be involved in the North East. Skinner did not confirm whether he will be looking to make several changes to his starting line-up when speaking in the pre-match press conference.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie between Sunderland and Manchester United is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon. The match has been declared a sell out with no further tickets available to purchase on the day of the game.
