Liverpool have re-signed forward Natasha Dowie on a loan deal from Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Reading.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds just a short time ago.
Dowie previously spent three years with Liverpool between 2013 and 2015, winning back-to-back Barclays Women’s Super League titles. She links-up with Liverpool boss Matt Beard for the third time in her career after previously working with him in her initial spell on Merseyside and at American club Boston Breakers.
Now 34, the forward has been with Reading for the last one-and-a-half seasons and she has shown that she still holds plenty of attacking qualities. The player will now be hoping to build on her legacy at Liverpool during her loan spell on Merseyside.
After re-joining Liverpool, Dowie said “It’s been a surreal last couple of days, it all happened quite quick but I’m over the moon to be back, this is my home, this is where I’ve got such great memories, the best memories really of my football career winning the league here.
“I’m just really excited for the next four months, on loan from Reading but just really want to help Liverpool get up the table as much as I can, however much I can be involved.”
Liverpool are scheduled to face Dowie’s parent club Reading at Prenton Park on Sunday. It is thought that the player will be ineligible to play in that match.
