Manchester United keeper Earps named Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper

Manchester United’s Mary Earps collected The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022.

Earps beat Chelsea’s Ann-Katrin Berger and Lyon’s Christiane Endler to the award. The keeper collected her award live on stage at The Best FIFA Football Awards in Paris last night.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a spectacular 2022 which saw her win the UEFA Women’s EURO with England. Earps was the Lionesses’ first-choice goalkeeper for that tournament, playing every single minute. The player conceded just two goals at the tournament while she kept four clean sheets. Earps has impressed England head coach Sarina Wiegman from the very first moment that they met. The keeper came from out in the cold to claim the number one jersey for her country and she has never let her coach down.

At club level, Earps has been a model of consistency. She has helped Manchester United to become serious challengers for the Barclays Women’s Super League title. The player is one of the first names on the teamsheet for The Red Devils.

In other news, England head coach Wiegman picked up The Best FIFA Women’s Coach award last night, beating Lyon’s Sonia Bompastor and Brazil’s Pia Sundhage. Wiegman collected the award after guiding the Lionesses to the 2022 Arnold Clark Cup and the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022. Wiegman remains unbeaten in her time as England head coach.
