Manchester City and England forward Lauren Hemp says that she is working hard to become a more consistent player.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful start to her career for club and country but there is undoubtedly more to come from the attacker.
When speaking in an England media session, Hemp said that she feels that this season could have been better and that she is working hard to become a more consistent player.
“It has been a mixture of highs and lows,” Hemp said. “I think the main thing for me that I’ve been working on is being more consistent in my performances.
“If I’m being really critical, my season hasn’t gone as well as I’d hoped for. There are always going to be a lot of good performances but also, I know that isn’t going to happen every week. It is important that I try to be more consistent.
“I am very critical of myself, so it is important for me to also look at the positives, even if I haven’t performed to my best and I need to look towards the next one.”
Despite Hemp demanding more from herself, the player has remained embedded in the England fold and she says that the coaches are helping her to improve her game.
Hemp said “Both Sarina (Wiegman) and Arjan (Veurink) have helped me to improve my game. They’re always looking for ways that I can improve and I am always going to them with clips for feedback, not only the bad but also the good things that I can take from games.
“It is always them who I go to for support and I feel that they have helped me improve over the last few months.”
Hemp will hope to make an impact for England when they contest the 2023 Women’s Finalissima with Brazil at Wembley this evening.
