Birmingham City full-back Wilson sustains ACL injury

Birmingham City have confirmed the news that full-back Siobhan Wilson recently sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Blues announced the news this evening via a post on their official club website.

Wilson sustained the injury during Birmingham City’s 2-1 Barclays Women’s Championship victory over Southampton at St Andrew’s 10 days’ ago. The player featured for the first 21 minutes of the match before being replaced by youngster Abbi Jenner.

The 28-year-old’s injury has now been fully-assessed by the Birmingham City medical team and it has been confirmed that the player has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The defender will now miss the remainder of the season while Birmingham City have indicated that they are not expecting to see Wilson back in action until early 2024.

Wilson joined the Blues last summer off the back of an impressive spell with Crystal Palace. The player has gone on to make 17 appearances for Birmingham City in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored two goals.

Birmingham City have four games left to play this season. The Blues have an outside chance of winning promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the first attempt but they really must win all of their remaining games.
