Arsenal have announced the news that captain Kim Little will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
Little sustained the injury during the second leg of Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium last month. The player was replaced by defender Lotte Wubben-Moy in the early stages of the match.
The Arsenal medical team have now fully-assessed Little’s injury and the verdict is not good news with the North Londoners set to lose the services of their captain for the remainder of the season. Little has already started her rehabilitation programme and the player is expected to be fit for the start of the 2023/2024 campaign.
The midfielder will miss some key games for Arsenal between now and the end of the season. The Gunners still have hopes of winning the Barclays Women’s Super League title while they are set to contest a UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final against VfL Wolfsburg in the coming weeks. If Arsenal are to add more trophies this season, they will have to do it without a club legend.
Arsenal return to action on Wednesday when they travel to the Leigh Sports Village to face Manchester United in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
