Ticket sales for Arsenal’s UWCL semi-final tie against VfL Wolfsburg exceed 48,000

Ticket sales for the second leg of Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final tie against VfL Wolfsburg at the Emirates Stadium have now exceeded 48,000.

The Gunners provided the latest update via a post on their official club Twitter account this evening.

Arsenal are set to welcome VfL Wolfsburg to North London for the second leg on Monday 1 May with the tie scheduled to kick-off at 5.45pm.

If the first leg is anything to go by, fans are in for a real treat at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg. Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down in the early stages of their first leg tie at the Volkswagen Arena yesterday but Jonas Eidevall’s side roared back and goals from Rafaelle Souza and Stina Blackstenius resulted in the contest ending 2-2.

Despite having to cope with long-term injuries to key players such as Beth Mead, Vivianne Miedema, Kim Little and Leah Williamson, Arsenal arguably have momentum going into the second leg and there is every chance that they can qualify for a first European cup final since 2007.

The current attendance record for an Arsenal women’s team fixture at the Emirates Stadium is 47,367 while the highest attendance for a UEFA Women’s Champions League tie played on British soil is 27,697. Both of those records are likely to be smashed when The Gunners welcome the German champions to North London next month.
