Fresh ticket surge sees Arsenal’s UWCL semi-final sales hit 50,000

A renewed surge for tickets for Arsenal’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final, second leg tie against VfL Wolfsburg at the Emirates Stadium has resulted in sales hitting 50,000.

The Gunners provided another ticket update via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

The latest ticket surge comes after Arsenal successfully recorded a 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg in the first leg at the Volkswagen Arena on Sunday afternoon. The hosts enjoyed the perfect start as they established a two-goal lead inside 25 minutes but goals from Rafaelle Souza and Stina Blackstenius ensured that the tie ended level. Just 90 minutes could now separate Arsenal and a first UEFA Women’s Champions League final appearance for 16 years.

Since the conclusion of the first leg, it is thought that around another 4,000 Arsenal fans have purchased tickets for the second leg meaning that the total number of tickets sold has now exceeded the 50,000 mark. Arsenal’s record attendance at the Emirates Stadium is 47,367 which was attracted for their North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur back in September. It seems highly-likely that a new record will be set for the VfL Wolfsburg fixture.
