London City Lionesses goalkeeper Pedersen suffers ACL blow

London City Lionesses goalkeeper Anna Pedersen is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an update from London City Lionesses this evening.

It has been reported that Pedersen will require surgery on her injury before beginning a period of rehabilitation. The youngster is not expected to return to action until 2024. London City Lionesses will support the player throughout her recovery programme.

Pedersen is in her second season with London City Lionesses. The player joined the club in summer 2021 after leaving former club Everton. Pedersen is yet to make her debut for The Pride but she has provided cover and competition for Shae Yanez prior to her departure from Princes Park earlier this week.

To aid her development, Pedersen has spent the latter part of this season on loan at FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Billericay Town. The keeper made four appearances for Ricay in all competitions prior to sustaining her season-ending injury.

With first-choice goalkeeper Yanez having departed and youngster Pedersen out injured, former Arsenal academy graduate Hermoine Cull is likely to play in goal for London City Lionesses against Coventry United on Sunday.
