‘We have nothing to lose’ – Sørensen looking forward to Everton’s challenging run in

Brian Sørensen is excited by Everton’s challenging end of season run in and he says that The Blue Girls have nothing to lose against some tough opponents.

Everton face three of the ‘top four’ in their final four matches in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League. Their latest fixture takes them to Kingsmeadow to face champions Chelsea on Sunday evening.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Sørensen said that Everton’s end of season run in excites him and that his side have nothing to lose.

“Hopefully, we can play with freedom,” Sørensen said. “We have nothing to lose, they are favourites and they need to win.

“We will try to do what we always do; play our style of football and see how far it can take us.

“We are really looking forward to the upcoming games, It has been a while since we have played the top teams. We are really looking forward to seeing where we are in our process.”

Chelsea will be heavy favourites to win this weekend’s fixture but Sørensen knows that his side are capable to competing with the South West Londoners when they are at their very best.

He said “Last time we played, the possession was fairly shared. We dominated some parts of it, they dominated some parts of it which was expected of course.

“We have shown that we can compete with them. It is just about how we make sure that we are defensively solid and how we manage the transition moments, that’s where they are good at hurting teams. They don’t care too much if we have the ball, they’re are clear in where they can attack us.

“We’ve been looking at how we can be better there and we need to be efficient in the final third because we aren’t going to get 10 big chances. We have to be sharp with the couple of chances that we create.”

Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Chelsea kicks-off at 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
