PREVIEW: Chelsea v Leicester City

Chelsea will be hoping to continue to apply pressure to Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Manchester United when they face Leicester City in their latest fixture at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.

The Blues trail The Red Devils by four points but they do have the benefit of two games-in-hand. Emma Hayes’ side go into the Leicester City game having recorded an emphatic 7-0 victory over Everton last time out.

Chelsea boss Hayes continues to be without the services of defender Millie Bright and forward Fran Kirby with both players nursing long-term injuries. Centre-back Kadeisha Buchanan is nearing fitness but is unlikely to be rushed back into action while the game may also come too soon for Czech Republic international Kateřina Svitková. Star striker Sam Kerr is likely to be assessed after suffering from illness ahead of the Everton match.

Leicester City head coach Willie Kirk is again unable to call upon long-term absentees Abbie McManus, Erin Simon and Lachante Paul while Jess Sigsworth is also likely to be out. Forward Shannon O’Brien could make her long-awaited return from injury.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Leicester City is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening. Tickets remain available and can be purchased by clicking here.
