Defender Kennedy signs new two-year deal at Manchester City

Australian international defender Alanna Kennedy has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this morning.

Kennedy has spent the last two seasons with Manchester City. The player has made 29 appearances for the club in all competitions in which she has scored one goal. Kennedy is currently out injured but she will be hoping to make a greater contribution next season whilst using her experience to support the younger players at the club.

After signing her new deal, Kennedy said “I’m really happy to be staying here at City – I’ve loved my time here so far.

“I feel like I still have a lot more to give on a personal level and for the team, so I’m looking forward to continuing our success here.

“I feel as though I have unfinished business here at City. I’ve worked hard to get myself into a position where I’ve learned the style, and I have a great relationship with all the girls and staff.

“I feel as though I’ve got so much more to learn as a player though, and this is an environment where I can do that and get better every day, surrounded by the best players.”

News of Kennedy’s contract extension comes off the back of Manchester City’s director of football Nils Nielsen’s comments last week which highlighted the importance of the club retaining out of contract players and building experience in the team.
