Crystal Palace have announced the news that manager Dean Davenport has left the club.
The Eagles made the announcement via an update on their official club website last night. It has been reported that members of Davenport’s coaching team have also left the club.
Davenport leaves the South Londoners after spending the last decade with the club. He helped transform Crystal Palace into a successful side in the elite game. The Eagles have been a constant feature in the Barclays Women’s Championship for the last five years. Davenport guided Crystal Palace to their highest-ever league finish of fourth position in 2021/2022.
Crystal Palace will now begin their search for a new manager with an appointment expected to be made over the summer. The club will be keen to attract someone who can really drive them forward with their ambitions of reaching the Barclays Women’s Super League in the coming years.
The Eagles increased their investment in their women’s team last summer with the club making a number of impressive full-time signings. Crystal Palace endured a challenging season on the pitch with their fifth-place finish being lower than what they will have planned for. Big changes are expected at the club over the summer as Crystal Palace aim to take another step forward towards where they want to be.
