Chelsea take up one-year option in contract of goalkeeper Orman

Chelsea have taken up a one-year extension option in the contract of highly-rated young goalkeeper Emily Orman.

The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Orman has come through the youth ranks at Chelsea. She featured for the club at WSL Academy League level before graduating into the first team. The youngster is still awaiting her senior debut for The Blues but she did enjoy a hugely productive loan spell in the Barclays Women’s Championship with Crystal Palace last season. Orman made 20 appearances in the second tier for The Eagles, claiming the South Londoners’ Fans’ Player of the Year award in the process.

Orman has remained with parent club Chelsea this season and she has gained some vital experience from the likes of Ann-Katrin Berger and Zećira Mušović on the training pitch. The keeper has been named in Chelsea’s matchday squad on several occasions. She has been a regular member of the squad for The Blues’ fixtures in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The next development path for Orman at Chelsea is unclear. It seems unlikely that she will get her opportunity in the first team any time soon therefore another loan move could be on the horizon next season.
