Quintet to leave Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of the season

Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the news that five players will be leaving the club this summer when their contracts come to an end.

The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Defender Victoria Williams announced her departure in a post on her personal Twitter account last night, however, Brighton & Hove Albion have also confirmed that goalkeeper Megan Walsh, midfielder Megan Connolly and forwards Danielle Carter and Kayleigh Green are also moving on.

Williams, Walsh, Connolly and Green are all long-serving members of the Brighton & Hove Albion squad while Carter was the first player to join The Seagulls for a transfer fee when she signed on with the Sussex club in summer 2021.

After the quintet’s departures were confirmed, head coach Melissa Phillips said “On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank all five girls for their fantastic contributions during their time with Brighton & Hove Albion.

“I have only known them a short while, but they are all brilliant professionals with a wonderful work ethic. They have been a credit to themselves and the club as they have made a lasting impact on the foundation of Brighton Women’s football.

“We look forward to supporting them through this transition. I know they will be hugely successful in their futures and we wish them all the best for the next challenges in their respective careers.”

Brighton & Hove Albion end the season with a fixture against Leicester City at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
