Arsenal defender Steph Catley has signed a contract extension with the club.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
Catley has spent the last three years with Arsenal after joining the club in summer 2020. The defender has gone on to make 74 appearances for the North Londoners in all competitions in which she has scored three goals. Catley was a member of the Arsenal team that won the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup this season. She played the full 90 minutes as The Gunners defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Selhurst Park in the final.
The Australian international is a popular member of the Arsenal team and the club will be pleased to have retained her services for a further period.
After signing her new deal, Catley said “It feels amazing – this feels like home. I’ve made some incredible friendships here and when the offer came around, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and exactly where I wanted to be. I’ve never been happier playing football and I feel like this team is very special – we’re building something special and in the future we’re capable of achieving anything.”
News of Catley’s contract extension comes just days after midfielder Frida Maanum dedicated her immediate future to The Gunners. Maanum starred for Arsenal this season and the club moved quickly to secure her services for the long-term.
