Manchester City have taken up a one-year extension option on the contract of Swedish international midfielder Filippa Angeldahl.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media update from Manchester City this morning.
Angeldahl was set to be out of contract this summer but she has been rewarded for some hugely progressive performances with a one-year extension to her current deal.
The midfielder joined Manchester City from Swedish club BK Hacken ahead of the 2021/2022 season. Angeldahl spent her first year at The Academy Stadium being eased into life in the English game before becoming a much more prominent fixture in the team this season. The Swede has made 48 appearances in a Manchester City shirt so far in which she has scored seven goals.
With Angeldahl now under contract for another year, it is hoped that the player will continue to blossom in the Manchester City midfield. She will be keen to help the club to return to winning silverware next season and secure UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification.
Angeldahl is the third player to sign a contract extension at Manchester City in the last eight days. The club have also agreed to extend the deals of top scorer Khadija Shaw and long-serving defender Steph Houghton.
