Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Gray pens first professional deal

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Jess Gray has signed her first professional contract with the club.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Gray joined Charlton Athletic from FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Billericay Town mid-way through this season. The youngster largely provided cover for first-choice keeper Sian Rogers in her first few months with the South East Londoners. Gray did make three appearances for The Addicks and she kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

The 21-year-old has potential and she will be hoping to reach her top level after signing professional terms with Charlton Athletic.

After signing her new deal, Gray said “I’m really excited with the new deal and can’t wait to get started with the season. I’m really grateful to all the staff and players for all the love and support they’ve shown me coming into the club this past year. I feel like we have a really good foundation built by Karen (Hills) and the coaching staff from last year to really push for promotion this year as a team!”

Gray joins teenager Mary Bashford in signing professional terms with the South East Londoners this summer.
