Highly-rated young Birmingham City goalkeeper Lucy Jones has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club West Bromwich Albion on a dual-registration basis.
The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account earlier today.
Jones has come through the youth ranks at St Andrew’s but she is yet to nail down a place in the Birmingham City side. The youngster was named amongst the Birmingham City substitutes on several occasions last season but Lucy Thomas was the preferred option in the Blues’ goal.
With Thomas again set to be Birmingham City’s number one this season, the club have allowed youngster Jones to join West Bromwich Albion on a dual-registration basis.
Speaking after securing Jones’ services, West Bromwich Albion head coach Siobhan Hodgetts said “We’re really looking forward to working with Lucy this season.
“She had a great campaign last year, gaining valuable experience at Birmingham City and with The Young Lionesses.
“This will be a good place for her to continue developing and we’re delighted to have her with us.”
Jones joins a West Bromwich Albion side that finished the 2022/2023 campaign in eighth position the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division table. The move should give her the game time that she needs to develop as a senior player.
Lucy Jones will spend the 2023/24 season at West Bromwich Albion on a dual-registration basis.
