Aston Villa sign Arsenal defender Patten on permanent deal

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Arsenal defender Anna Patten on a permanent deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this afternoon. It has been reported that Patten has signed a three-year deal with Aston Villa.

The defender has previously enjoyed two loan spells with Aston Villa. The 24-year-old spent part of the 2021/2022 season on loan with The Villans before returning to The Poundland Bescot Stadium again last term. Patten has made 26 appearances for the club to date in the Barclays Women’s Super League and she is now set to once again play an important role for Aston Villa in the coming season.

After securing Patten’s services on a permanent basis, Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward said “This is a huge signing for us.

“Patsy has had two successful loan spells and has already played a big part in our journey so far. We’re delighted she’s enjoyed her time here and wants to continue, as we see her playing a significant part in our next steps.”

Patten has become Aston Villa head coach Ward’s third signing of the summer transfer window. Ward has also added goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar and defender Lucy Parker to her squad this summer.
