Defender Abby Holmes has re-joined Durham ahead of the new season.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this morning.
Holmes returns to Durham after spending one season down the A690 at Sunderland. Prior to her short spell on Wearside, Holmes spent four seasons with Durham in which she made 60 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship, scoring four goals.
The defender always gives her all with her tough-tackling and high-energy performances and Durham fans will be delighted to see her back in a blue and white shirt this season.
After re-joining Durham, Holmes said “I’m absolutely buzzing and can’t wait to get started.
“I followed the team closely last season and now I can’t wait to get back in the dressing room. A lot of these players are my closest friends and hopefully that shows on the pitch.
“I’ve been in a part-time environment for the past few seasons so I’m looking forward to seeing where my game can get to.
“I can’t wait for all the noise from the Blue Army too. Hopefully they’ll be travelling home and away and that will get us a few wins this season.”
Holmes becomes Durham’s third addition of the summer transfer window.
