Southampton’s teenage defender Megan Collett has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The Saints announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 18-year-old is a product of Southampton’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) and she has gone on to nail down a regular starting spot in the first team. Collett made 21 appearances for Southampton in last season’s Barclays Women’s Championship, helping the club to record a top half of the table finish.
The Saints are set for another exciting season in the second tier and Collett could again play a big part after signing a professional contract with the club.
After signing on with Southampton, Collett said “Signing a first professional contract is any little girl’s dream come true and to do it at my home club – the club I grew up at – makes it even more special.
“The Academy was a big part of my journey in signing a first professional contract and I cannot thank the staff and all the players that have helped develop me into the player and person that I am today.
“I cannot wait for the journey ahead. The hard work carries on and I cannot wait to keep learning and developing into the player I want to be!”
Collett and Southampton are set to enjoy their second season of Barclays Women’s Championship football in 2023/2024.
