Reading midfielder Rowe joins Rangers

Reading midfielder Rachel Rowe has completed a move to Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 club Rangers.

The Gers announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Rowe has spent the last six years with Reading, helping to keep the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Royals’ time in the top flight came to an end in May and the club have made the decision to operate on a part-time basis this season. After considering her options, midfielder Rowe has opted for a fresh challenge and she has agreed to join Rangers.

After joining The Gers, Rowe said “It feels amazing, it is a bit surreal, I am really excited to be joining the club. I don’t think it has fully sunk in yet so I am kind of still going through the emotions a bit.”

Rowe made 156 appearances in all competitions for former club Reading in which she scored 18 goals. While the player was not a regular goalscorer for the Berkshire club, she did net a number of memorable strikes from distance. It is fair to say that Rowe was the midfield engine in the Reading side.

In total, 14 players have now left Rowe’s former club Reading since they were relegated to the Barclays Women’s Championship.
