Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of former Lewes defender Rebecca McKenna on an initial one-year deal.
The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
McKenna left former club Lewes earlier this summer upon the expiry of her contract at The Dripping Pan and she therefore joins new club Charlton Athletic on a free transfer. The Northern Ireland international defender spent the last two seasons with Lewes in which she made 42 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
The player has a big future ahead of her and she will be hoping to take another step forward with her development at new club Charlton Athletic this season.
After joining The Addicks, McKenna said “As soon as I spoke to Karen (Hills), it just felt right. I’ve only been here a short space of time but I’ve loved every minute of it.
“I’m going to give everything for the team and hopefully, I can contribute.”
Charlton Athletic head coach Karen Hills has now added six new faces to her squad in the summer transfer window. In addition to McKenna, Hills has also brought in Kate Longhurst, Sian Rogers, Kayleigh Green, Elisha N’Dow and Freya Godfrey.
