San Diego Wave sign London City Lionesses forward Carusa

American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave have completed the signing of London City Lionesses forward Kyra Carusa on a free transfer.

The Wave announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening. Carusa has signed with the club for the remainder of the 2023 season.

Carusa moves Stateside after spending the second half of last season with London City Lionesses. The forward made 11 appearances for The Pride while she scored one goal.

After impressing with the Republic of Ireland at this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, Carusa put herself in the shop window and the next step in her career comes in the NWSL with San Diego Wave.

After securing Carusa’s services, San Diego Wave head coach Casey Stoney said “We started following Kyra closely this off-season, and we are excited to welcome her to the club.

“She will bring healthy competition to our forward group and provide the team with much-needed depth for the rest of this season. She’s just coming back from the World Cup and eager to make a difference to help her hometown make a run deep into the play-offs.”

Carusa returns to America after spending four years playing her football in Europe.
