Watford re-sign defender Henson

Watford have re-signed defender Corinne Henson ahead of their Barclays Women’s Championship return.

The Golden Girls announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Henson re-joins Watford off the back of spending last season with Charlton Athletic. The player made 18 appearances for The Addicks in last season’s Barclays Women’s Championship while she scored one goal. The defender previously turned out for Watford in the second tier in 2021/2022. Henson was an ever-present for The Golden Girls as they lost their fight to remain in the Barclays Women’s Championship for a second season.

At just 19 years of age, Henson is yet to reach her peak performance levels and she will be hoping to continue to take her senior playing career forward at Watford.

Watford manager Damon Lathrope has arguably been one of the busiest Barclays Women’s Championship bosses in the close season. Henson’s arrival marks the 10th new player to join Watford since they won the FA Women’s National League Championship Play-Off Final back in May. With 21 players now onboard, Lathrope’s summer recruitment seems almost done.

The Hertfordshire club kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Championship season with a home fixture against Durham on Sunday 27 August 2023.
