Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith has signed a new three-year deal with the club.
The Robins announced the news this afternoon via a post on their official club website.
Smith joined Bristol City in summer 2021 and she virtually built a brand new squad from scratch. The Robins briefly flirted with the promotion place in the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2021/2022 before the club won the league title last season.
Smith is one of the brightest young coaches in the elite game and she will be hoping to go from strength-to-strength with Bristol City over the next three years.
After signing on again at Ashton Gate, Smith said “I’m so pleased to sign a new deal. The club really invested in me and gave me a chance to be a manager when I hadn’t done it before, and hopefully over the last couple of years, I’ve proved that it was the right thing to do.
“I look back really fondly on my two seasons in charge so far and all the changes we’ve seen in that time. We started with very few players on a contract and it’s amazing to see how much we’ve progressed on and off the pitch, developing into a really professional side with genuine ambition.”
After winning promotion last season, Smith’s next task as Bristol City head coach is to keep the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
