Tottenham Hotspur defender Shelina Zadorsky has signed a one-year contract extension with the club ahead of the new season.
The Lilywhites announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
Zadorsky has enjoyed three seasons with Spurs so far after joining the club in 2020. The Canadian international initially joined The Lilywhites on loan from American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Orlando Pride before making the move permanent in the January 2021 transfer window.
The 30-year-old has represented Spurs on 54 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored one goal. The player is a vitally important member of the Spurs back-line and fans will be delighted to learn of the news of her contract extension.
Zadorsky returns to Spurs after representing the Canadian national team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023. Canada played three group stage matches at the tournament before suffering a surprise early exit.
New Spurs head coach Robert Vilahamn’s squad-building ahead of the new season is now well-underway. Zadorsky’s contract extension comes off the back of recent the news that both Olga Ahtinen and Barbora Votíková have joined the club. Lots more squad news is expected in the coming weeks.
