PREVIEW: Blackburn Rovers v Sheffield United

Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United will be hoping to bounce back from their defeats last weekend when they meet in the Barclays Women’s Championship at Ewood Park this afternoon.

Simon Parker’s Blackburn Rovers side went down 2-0 at Southampton while Sheffield United suffered a slightly surprising 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland.

Blackburn Rovers have a good recent record at Ewood Park. The Lancashire club have won two and drawn one of their last three matches at the venue. They defeated this afternoon’s opponents Sheffield United 1-0 in BB2 last season.

Blackburn Rovers head coach Parker remains without long-term absentees Millie Robertson, Nicola Worthington and Farah Crompton while Niamh Murphy and Georgia Walters were notable omissions from the squad last weekend. On-loan Brighton & Hove Albion forward Chelsea Ferguson could be in-line to make her debut.

Sheffield United boss Jonathan Morgan is unable to call upon the services of forward Jess Sigsworth with the player set to serve a suspension for her red card against Sunderland. Tamara Wilcock and Chenè Muir remain sidelined while goalkeeper Fran Stenson faces a late fitness test.

The Barclays Women’s Championship fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United kicks-off at 2pm. Tickets remain available and can be purchased by clicking here.
