Aston Villa have completed the signing of Manchester United forward Adriana Leon on a two-year contract.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this afternoon.
Leon joins Aston Villa after spending one season with Manchester United. She signed a two-year deal with The Red Devils last summer and went on to score one goal in five outings in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Canadian international struggled for regular game time for Marc Skinner’s side and she joined American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Portland Thorns on a short-term loan arrangement in April.
The forward is seeking regular football and she will hope to get that during her time with new club Aston Villa.
After securing Leon’s services for Aston Villa, head coach Carla Ward said “Adriana is someone we’ve monitored over the last 18 months and is someone who has displayed great pedigree in the Barclays WSL.
“She can play off both sides and will add another dimension to our evolving group.
“We’re delighted she’s committed her future to us and we’re all looking forward to working with her.”
Leon becomes Aston Villa’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
