Spurs sign Chinese international forward Zhang on loan

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Chinese international forward Zhang Linyan on a loan deal from Wuhan Jianghan University.

The Lilywhites announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Zhang will officially link-up with Spurs next month following the conclusion of the Asian Games, meaning that she may not be available for the North Londoners’ opening fixtures in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The 22-year-old forward started her senior career with Beijing BG Phoenix before representing Guangzhou. She joined latest club Wuhan Jianghan University in 2022. Zhang has recently had her first taste of European club football during a loan spell in Switzerland with AXA Women’s Super League side Grasshopper Club Zürich.

On the international stage, Zhang made her senior debut for China in 2022. She has 17 caps to her name while she has scored two goals. Zhang was a member of the Chinese side which participated at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.

Zhang becomes Spurs’ fifth signing of the summer transfer window. It is understood that The Lilywhites will look to complete at least one more deal before the transfer window comes to a close this evening.
