Reading goalkeeper Jackie Burns has signed a new contract with the club.
The Royals announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Burns is currently sidelined with an Achilles injury but the player is set to return to action early next year. The Northern Ireland international is enjoying life at the Select Car Leasing Stadium and she was keen to extend her stay with Reading.
The keeper joined Reading after the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 last summer. She made 12 appearances for The Royals in all competitions last season, keeping two clean sheets. Once fit again, she will battle Emily Orman and Rose Kite for the goalkeeping jersey.
After extending her stay at Reading, Burns said “I am thrilled to continue my journey with Reading FC Women.
“The support I’ve received during my recovery has been incredible and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch with my teammates.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity and support the club, the staff and everyone has given to me to ensure my recovery is right and making sure I take the right steps to get me back onto the pitch. We have an exceptional group here and I’m excited about what we can achieve together.”
Burns is the first Reading player to sign a new deal since the club were relegated from the Barclays Women’s Super League last season.
