Former Liverpool full-back Campbell joins Everton

Everton have completed the signing of former Liverpool defender Megan Campbell on a free transfer ahead of the new season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this morning.

Campbell spent the last two seasons with Liverpool before leaving the club in the summer. She was a Barclays Women’s Championship winner with The Reds in 2021/2022 before regularly featuring for the club in the top flight last season. The player is known for her long throws and she will add something different to Brian Sørensen’s Everton squad this season.

After joining Everton, Campbell said “I’m delighted to be here. It’s a different challenge for me, coming into the WSL with a new team, and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully, I can thrive in the blue of Everton and I’m confident it can be a successful season for the team.

“Last season, the squad did very well under Brian and proved they can go places under his leadership. This season can be another step in that process.

“I want to come in, enjoy the experience and hopefully help the team where I can. I am a senior player. I have played in the WSL and against top internationals, so I want to support my teammates wherever I can and make an impact too.”

Campbell could be involved when Everton face Brighton & Hove Albion at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.
