Manchester City midfielder Hutchings joins Blackburn Rovers on dual-registration deal

Manchester City midfielder Annie Hutchings has re-joined Blackburn Rovers on a dual-registration basis for the remainder of the Barclays Women’s Championship season.

The Lancashire club announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Hutchings spent some of last season in the academy system at Manchester City after joining the club from city rivals Manchester United. She made her senior debut for The Cityzens in a 6-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the group stage of last season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. The midfielder was in and around the Manchester City first team at times last season but struggled for playing opportunities.

As part of her development, Hutchings joined Blackburn Rovers on a dual-registration basis in the second half of last season. She made eight appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Given her successful short spell with Blackburn Rovers in 2022/2023, the club have been able to bring Hutchings back on a similar arrangement this term.

Hutchings has immediately linked-up with the Blackburn Rovers squad and she could be available for selection when Simon Parker’s side take on Lewes at The Dripping Pan on Sunday. The club have made an excellent start to the season, taking nine points from four games.
