Leicester City midfielder Tierney signs new deal

Leicester City midfielder Sam Tierney has signed a two-year contract extension with the Barclays Women’s Super League club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this afternoon.

Tierney joined Leicester City in 2020 and she was a Barclays Women’s Championship title-winner in her first season with the club. The midfielder has since played an instrumental role for Leicester City in the top flight.

The player looks set to be a regular starter for The Foxes again this season and the club have moved to retain her services on a long-term deal.

After signing her contract extension, Tierney said “I am pleased to have signed a new contract with the club. I’ve been with Leicester a little while now, and I am delighted to have extended my stay.

“I feel like I have more areas of my game I want to develop, and I am looking forward to helping the team in the new season. The ambitions of the Club and the coaching staff match my own and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”

Tierney played the full 90 minutes for Leicester City as they opened the new season with a 4-2 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate yesterday.
