Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that his side need to keep believing in the process and the results will come.
The Blue Girls have lost both of their opening matches this season by the odd goal, going down 2-1 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and 1-0 at Leicester City.
When speaking about his side’s challenging start to the season, Everton boss Sørensen said that his team are not far away from reaping the rewards and that they just have to keep trusting the process.
“We could have won both games if we were sharper, so that’s something that we need to look at,” Sørensen said when speaking to Everton’s official media team. “We can also do better with the goals that we conceded in both games. Against Leicester at the weekend, we did more than enough to win it.
“That’s football sometimes. You need to keep believing in what we are working on and we will get the results in the end.”
Everton can temporarily take their eyes off the Barclays Women’s Super League on Wednesday evening. The Blue Girls host Manchester City in a FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage fixture at Walton Hall Park. Sørensen is looking forward to what is set to be two footballing teams going head-to-head.
He said “We’re looking forward to it, it’s a good game. When you play against City, they want to play football, so it should be a really good game.”
Both teams could field much-changed line-ups at Walton Hall Park. Regardless of which players start the match for Manchester City, Sørensen knows that his side will be severely tested.
“Every player that plays (for Manchester City) is just really good, they have different attributes and you don’t see many weaknesses,” Sørensen said.
“At the weekend, they started without Bunny Shaw who is their main asset but they found a way to play well. They have so many ways that they can line-up which makes it unpredictable but their philosophy remains the same.”
Everton’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture against Manchester City kicks-off at 7pm on Wednesday evening.
