Improving home form really important for Everton says Sørensen

Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that it is really important that his side begin to make Walton Hall Park a difficult place for opposing teams to come and play.

The Blue Girls have won just two of their last seven Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures at Walton Hall Park while they have lost all of their home matches this season.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s home fixture against bottom club Bristol City, Sørensen highlighted the importance of Everton turning their form around at Walton Hall Park.

“We need to start winning games at home,” Sørensen said. “Last year, it was more away where we were getting a lot of wins, so it is definitely something that we want to improve.

“I don’t know if there is a reason why we haven’t got them (home wins) but it is something that we want to change, that’s for sure. It has to be a hard place for opposing teams to come and play.

“It’s about consistency in performance both home and away but especially at home; we can’t switch off at times like we did early on in the first game against Brighton and they score two goals. We have to be spot on from start to finish.”

Everton’s latest opponents Bristol City have lost five of their six league matches so far this season but Sørensen has been impressed with what he has seen from The Robins.

He said “They look well-organised and they’ve put in a good display in every game that they’ve played. They fight for each other and they actually play football at times too. They look good and they’re a team that we are not underestimating at all. They’re good at what they do and score in virtually every game.

“We have to be on our toes and be ready because they’re a team that are hungry and one that will want to come here and challenge us.”

Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets remain available and can be purchased by clicking here.
