Arsenal are closing in on an Emirates Stadium sell-out for their upcoming Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea with more than 50,000 tickets having been sold.
The Gunners provided WSL Full-Time with a ticket update earlier this morning. Fans have snapped up tickets in their thousands in the last couple of weeks and the prospect of a sell-out is a real possibility.
Arsenal are yet to sell out the Emirates Stadium for a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture. Their only previous women’s team sell-out was when The Gunners hosted German club VfL Wolfsburg in the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final last season.
The North Londoners did set a new Barclays Women’s Super League attendance record earlier this season. Arsenal’s opening day fixture against Liverpool attracted a competition all-time record crowd of 54,115. It now seems very likely that the current attendance record will be smashed when Chelsea provide the opposition at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 10 December 2023.
In Arsenal’s media conference earlier today, head coach Jonas Eidevall commented on what promises to be a huge occasion in N7 next month.
“Don’t miss out! Buy a ticket, bring a friend, bring a family member and let’s get a sell-out for the first time in our history in the WSL,” he said.
“I think this is a great occasion for that and everyone should be pushing for that. We feel that support and special bond and we’re so grateful for having it.
“It’s a giant leap to go from selling 4,000 tickets on a weekly basis to selling 60,000 tickets on a weekly basis. It enables sustainability in investing into the team, which should give you more sporting success.”
