Durham defender Wilson signs first professional deal

Durham defender Ella Wilson has signed her first professional contract with the club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this morning.

Wilson is a product of Durham’s Professional Game Academy squad and she has gone on to graduate to the first team. The 18-year-old has made 10 appearances for Durham at first team level so far this season, showing maturity well beyond her years. The England youth international has a big future ahead of her and Durham will be delighted to have retained her services for the long-term.

After signing her first professional deal, Wilson said “I’m absolutely delighted. To get this opportunity at such a young age is a pleasure, but I know that now the hard work starts.

“When I started playing at four, I never thought this would happen. Being at Durham has been really good and playing in the Academy first was such a nice step.”

Wilson could get her first taste of Adobe Women’s FA Cup action this weekend as Durham enter the competition at the third round stage. The Wildcats have been handed the long trip to the West Midlands to take on third tier side West Bromwich Albion.
